Some stuff I've been working on.

Thought it was about time that I updated my very neglected blog.  I've been doing some scrapbooking but it's mainly been digi scrapping as haven't had a great amount of time to do traditional scrapping.  I also tend to scrap more when I'm with friends and as everyone's been busy with the school holidays haven't had a crop at my house for a while.

These are some calendar toppers I made to go ovet the top of commercial calendars that I gave friends & family for Christmas

I also made an mini digi album for Dad's 60th Birthday. The L/O's are members of our family from my granparents and aunties when they were kids to the grandkids now.  I only had a day to make it so it came together pretty quickly.  I printed them out 5 x 5 size, laminated them and joined them together with a ring in the top corner.  He loved it.

I've also made some OTP stuff and ATC's but haven't pulled those photos from my camera. Will have to upload them at another time.

Quick Catchup

Well I realise I've been a slack blogger but have just been so busy that I've hardly been near my computer at all...... hence the 350 emails in my in box.

SBC AWARDS:-  Had a great night at these awards.  The demos before hand were great.  The food was yummy, and the prizes were great.  I was so excited to win the BTP award.  My prize was a cricut cartridge (one I didn't have).... but the trophy was just soooooo cute.  i would have been happy with just that.  Everyone looked lovely all dressed up.  I didn't have my camere but some photos have been put up at SBC.

Bit of a catch up

Well this is really a post to catch up on what I've been up to since I last blogged.

*  Was so surprised when all the staff where Mark & I work put on a surprise afternoon tea to celebrate our recent wedding.  Everyone from the ward came (even those on days off) and brought some lovely food and gave a us a voucher to spend (just need to decide what we want to buy).  I can't believe that I didn't guess what they were all up to.

*  Kiara had her first ever Tap & Jazz exams.  Not sure who was more nervous her or me.  I think she went quite well..... won't get the results for another couple of weeks.  She also has been in two school band competitions over the last week. Kiara joined the band this year and is learning to play the trumpet. They scored to silvers. She & Maddie have also started doing tap duos together and I think there dance is coming along nicely.

*  Mark unfortunately didn't get the security coordinators position at the hospital but was offered full time security position.  It's turned out to be the best financially for us anyway as he will be on quite a lot more money than he was as an orderly and even then what he would get as a security coordinator.  His main goal is to join the police force.

*  I currently work one day a week as a hospital bed manager, the rest of the time on the neuro/ortho ward.  The other girl I job share the position with is about to start maternity leave.  I interviewed for the position this week and should hear next week how I went.  Not sure if I will get it though as am not keen to do the position full time as the drop in pay and extended hours would impact on the family too much.  I'm hoping that they offer it to me as an increase in my jobshare hours but not sure what the hospital really wants.  Either way I'll be happy as my current hours won't be affected and I do enjoy working with all the staff the rest of the week on the ward.

*  On the craft side of things - I went to the stitches & craft show and became so inspired to start stitching again.  I really want to get my design business "Brackleberry Gully" up & running again.  Will be a bit of struggle next year as I'll be working fulltime at the hospital and doing my graduate certificate in neurosurgical nursing through RMIT.

*  I also bought a 7gypsies ATC stand and have entered a challenge at Blue Bazaar where we do a different ATC each week based on a preset theme.  Should be able to fill the stand nicely with this challenge.  It is so cute.  I'll take some photos when I get it a bit more filled.

*  Wedding photos - a few of you have commented that you'd like to see some more of them.  At the moment even though I've been sent the proofs I'm still to decide on the final ones for the album.  When I do that they'll send me the DVD of all the photos and then I can post some up.  The one I did I scanned into the computer but it was such a lot of mucking around that I've just not had the time to do anymore.  I'll see how I go this week.

Playing with Colour

Here is a digi L/O I made last night.  I was playing around with the clour combo of red,orange with a touch of aqua.  I'm pretty happy with the result.

Haven't been doing a great deal as this week we all Mark started back at work (7 days in a row), and Brady & Kiara started back at school, dancing & SES.  So we've had to get back into our usually hectic schedule pretty quckly.  Kiara & her friend Maddi have there first duo private lessons for Tap & Jazz tonight so it will be interesting to see how they go. Then she has her Tap & Jazz exams next week and her first school band competition as well.  Kiara has started playing the trumpet and actually does it quite well considering she has limited time to practice.

I've been making a few L/O's for the SBC awards.  I'll post them up later today when they are finished.

Digi Layout - LIfe

Here's a digi L/O I worked on this afternoon.  I'm going to put it on the cover of a 6 x 12 album I want to do about myself.  I've been wanting to do an album in this format for ages.  A bit addicted to bright colours at the moment and love adding spalshes of black & white to make the colours stand out.

I really like working on hybrid projects at the moment.  For those who aren't sure what hybrid means it means combining digi & paper scrapbooking to make intersting projects.  I think it adds a whole dimension to your layouts.

What a Great Day !!!!

Spent the day with my friend Jo & daughter Kiara.  We started out shopping at Grand Plaza wher I bought Kiara some new school joggers and fancy hot pink wedges.  She just loves them.  Also bought a book.

Then we went to the Scrapper's Den and I ended up buying a dreamkutz machine.  I've been wanting one for awhile (especially after I got a bind-it-all machine.  It cuts papers into heaps of various sizes perfectly and quickly.  I love making little mini albums so this is perfect.  I also got it for only $130.00 which saved me about $70.00.  Jo got some lovely things for a swap she's in.... prices were really good. 

Then we headed over to cyberscraps which we'd never been to before.  I behaved myself & only bought some cardstock and stuff for Kiara to make a tag album with.  Jo got some more stuff for her swap.

When we got home there was a letter saying Scrapbooking Emporium is closing down and they are selling everything at 40% off.  So of course we headed up there.... not one to miss a bargain.  I bought a Cutterpede circle scissor plus (which cuts & draws perfect circle in various sizes).  I'd been wanting one for ages.  Also got some whale punches, stamps, inks & adhesives.  Jo finally got the crop-a-dile she'd been wanting for forever as well as a heap of other stuff.

My wedding photo proofs also arrived.  I am so happy with them.  Now we just have to go through them & pick out which ones we want altered, enlarged etc. It isn't going to be easy as they can do so many things with computers now days.

Then to top the day off I received a lovely home made card from Niss.  She has done all the doodling herself and each time I look I find something else on it that she's done.  It just really made my day.....  thankyou so much Niss.

Just Married

Well it's now been just over a week since Mark & I elope and got married on Long Island in the Whitsundays.  I was hoping the photos would be here by now so I could put some on my blog but they haven't arrived yet.

It was such a nice simple day.....the setting was lovely, the weather gorgeous and the celebrant, photographer and duty manager all did such a wonderful job making sure that it was the perfect wedding.  I thought I may have felt funny, not having family there, but we ended up getting Mum, Dad, my brother Scott and kids to ring and they were on speaker phone so they could all listen in (that was a special touch).

The rest of or time up there was just so relaxing.  We spent 4 nights on Long island and then another in a resort at Airlie Beach.  Our place was right up on a hill so we could sit in the lounge or our balcony and the best views of the harbour with all the boats moared there.  You couldn't help but be relaxed.  We hade some nice meals with some friends of Mark's who were up that way as well.  And I got to catch up with some long time family friends of ours that I've known since I was 6yo but hadn't seen for about 12 years.  They own the Hog's Breath restaurant up there.

Mark just loves it up that way and would move there in a heartbeat if he could.  I also would.  The prices of land are just a bit too expensive, but one can dream.  We're hoping to get back there next year with the kids and maybe Mum & Dad & my brother and his family.  We're going to start saving right away.

Welcome to my new blog....

Hello and welcome to my blog.  This is not the first blog I have ever had but I plan to make this the best blog I have ever had.  Bracklebee Buzz is a title that was chosen to represent my stitchery business that I am in the process of building and also the buzz I get out of all things crafty.  I just love scrapbooking and handcrafts, sewing, knitting, crochet, drawing etc, etc.... the list just goes on.  I think, eat and breathe craft.  I don't know what I would do if I lost my sight or the use of my hands as I work on m craft project every single day.

At the moment scrapbooking and stitchery are my two most favourite crafts.  I love stitching as it is so portable.  I love designing and sewing these designs.... and always have a couple of different designs in various stages of development.  Scrapbooking is also a great pasttime.  I love sitting in my craft studio and making layout or beyond the page items or my knew found love digi scrapping.  I have made some great friends through scrapbooking and have had some great times..... retreats, crops, stap parties and the best was a scrapbooking cruise I went on in March of this year.

This blog will be a method of chronicling my crafty pursuits as well as chatting on about stuff I find interesting.  I may not be the world's best blogger but I am going to try and commit to at least a once a week post.
